New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani warned his city's residents Tuesday of soaring temperatures in the days to come, and said a special fleet of cooling vans would be part of the resources rolled out to help those impacted.

The Northeast, including New York City and Boston, will feel major heat through the Fourth of July holiday.

"Beginning tomorrow, New York City will enter a heat emergency that will last through the Fourth of July weekend. Temperatures will climb into the high nineties and triple digits. With humidity it will feel even hotter, with a heat index that could peak around 112 degrees," Mamdani said.
