Supporters of India's viral Cockroach Janta Party protested Saturday to demand the resignation of the country's education minister, over allegations of examination irregularities and repeated paper leaks.

The protest in New Delhi by hundreds of students and young supporters of the now-offline movement added to the pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, while also seeking support among India's general public.

Some carried placards and others banged plates, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The exam paper for a nationwide medical programme was leaked last month through social media app Telegram.

Cockroach Janta Party emerged in May, after Supreme Court Judge Surya Kant compared some unemployed youth to cockroaches, triggering outrage amongst an online crowd.

The movement, led by an Indian student based in the US, has since grown massively.
