8 arrested over airport gold robbery worth $7mn

The case involving gold bars robbed at an airport car park on Thursday saw another arrest in Tuen Mun last night, bringing the total number of suspects detained to eight. Police say the crime is believed to be premeditated, indicating insider involvement. Officers later located the suspected getaway vehicle in Tsuen Wan, where they found weapons and other evidence inside. But the stolen gold have yet to be recovered. Some suspects have already fled to the mainland. Three masked men assaulted the victim at the parking lot and robbed his backpack reportedly containing gold bars worth about 7 million dollars before fleeing in a getaway vehicle.
