China makes demarches to UK over sanctions on Chinese entities

The United Kingdom announces new measures against 70 entities and individual on the pretext of circumventing Western sanctions to supply key military equipment to Russia.

Beijing makes solemn demarches to London regarding the four Chinese entities on the list.

The British government says the sanctions clamp down on Russia's so-called shadow fleets and shady networks.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer notes those ships, money and actors are propping up the war economy of Russia, and in turn, posing a threat to Europe's security.

The Chinese Embassy in Britain says it firmly opposes the UK's imposition of unilateral sanctions, which lack basis in international law and undermine the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.

The embassy urges UK authorities to correct the "wrongdong" and revoke sanctions placed on relevant Chinese entities.
