US delays blacklisting DeepSeek

The US has delayed blacklisting DeepSeek, CXMT and more than 100 Chinese firms reportedly in an attempt to avoid escalating tensions with Beijing.

The Entity List has not been updated since October - the longest lapse in over a decade. Beijing opposes the sanctions, calling it an abuse of export controls.

The firms face accusations of military support, technology theft, and the supply of Russian drone components. DeepSeek and CXMT were approved for the list last year that remains unpublished.

Sources say the delay stems from fears of sharpening US-China rivalry, though American analysts warn it allows American technology to reach competitors.
