Asteroid named after fallen firefighter who died at Wang Fuk Court

The International Astronomical Union names asteroid 34871 "Howaiho", paying tribute to firefighter Ho Wai-ho, who died while battling the blaze at Wang Fuk Court last November.
The asteroid was discovered in 2001 by Hong Kong-born Canadian astronomer William Yeung.
The astronomical union formally approved the name proposed by Yeung this month, noting Ho's courage and dedication in rescue operations.
