Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reiterated that Greenlandic people have been very clear they don't want to become Americans.

Frederiksen spoke at the Munich Security Conference, and suggested that although the dispute involving US, Denmark and Greenland has cooled, she remains wary.

She said: "I think the desire from the US president is exactly the same. He is very serious about this theme."

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met briefly with the Danish and Greenlandic leaders in Munich on Friday, a meeting Frederiksen described as "constructive".

Rubio offered a reassuring message to America's allies, putting out a less aggressive but still firm line about the Trump administration's intent to reshape the NATO alliance.
